Summary

Poor Duncan just wants to color。 But when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: We quit!

Beige is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown。 Blue needs a break from coloring all that water, while Pink just wants to be used。 Green has no complaints, but Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking to each other。

What is Duncan to do? Debut author Drew Daywalt and New York Times bestseller Oliver Jeffers create a colorful solution in this playful, imaginative story that will have children laughing and playing with their crayons in a whole new way。

It’s a cute little book! Very fun, but I feel like maybe I didn’t understand the ending? Some of the creations seem to have gotten what they wanted, but what about beige? Anyways, the illustrations were great!

My 3-year-old granddaughter wants this read to her before bed every single night。 She's been staying for a week and a half - so we've read it quite a few times so far。 She's 'read' it a few times on her own, too。 It's a cute story with cute illustrations that look like child-drawn and colored pictures。 She has favorite colors (not JUST pink) and a very strong opinion about the color of the sun。 And I'm sure we'll read it a few more times in the next several days before she goes back home。 My 3-year-old granddaughter wants this read to her before bed every single night。 She's been staying for a week and a half - so we've read it quite a few times so far。 She's 'read' it a few times on her own, too。 It's a cute story with cute illustrations that look like child-drawn and colored pictures。 She has favorite colors (not JUST pink) and a very strong opinion about the color of the sun。 And I'm sure we'll read it a few more times in the next several days before she goes back home。 。。。more

I stumbled upon this book from a list of postmodern picture books。 It looked cute so I thought I would give it a try。 This book is about a boy named Duncan's crayons who feel overworked, underused, or unappreciated。 In this book, we never actually see Duncan, the book starts out with a picture of a stack of letters addressed to Duncan。 Each crayon writes Duncan a letter stating why he/she needs a break from coloring and has decided to quit。 Each crayon has its own problem and clearly states what I stumbled upon this book from a list of postmodern picture books。 It looked cute so I thought I would give it a try。 This book is about a boy named Duncan's crayons who feel overworked, underused, or unappreciated。 In this book, we never actually see Duncan, the book starts out with a picture of a stack of letters addressed to Duncan。 Each crayon writes Duncan a letter stating why he/she needs a break from coloring and has decided to quit。 Each crayon has its own problem and clearly states what can solve its problem。 Some crayons have a problem with Duncan-they problems range from him not coloring in the lines, to only coloring specific things with that color, other's have a problem with another crayon。 For example, yellow and orange crayons both think they should be Duncan's only choice when he is coloring the sun。 Each crayon is writing their letter in the first person point of view and the author does a great job of explaining their reasoning for wanting to quit。 They each have a very valid point。 The author also does a great job of giving each crayon a personality。 I would use this book to teach cause and effect or problem-solving with my students。 。。。more

While this book is for children, the illustrations that show the perspectives of the crayons are hilarious。 I could read this book many times and still not get bored。Great for children!

When we went to the library, this is the only book I would consent to look at, because it has crayons and I like crayons。 Mommy doesn't think it has much of a story, but it has crayons and coloring。 I don't know what else it needs。 When we went to the library, this is the only book I would consent to look at, because it has crayons and I like crayons。 Mommy doesn't think it has much of a story, but it has crayons and coloring。 I don't know what else it needs。 。。。more

This book is hilarious! And it’s really cute too! I love the part where blue crayon is stubby because he was used too much and peach crayon was naked because his wrapper got peeled。 It’s little bits of quirkiness and childlike humor that I love。 ❤️

This is a funny and interesting story about a little boy Duncan and his Crayon Box。 One day when he take out his crayons he found stack of complaint letters from crayons like Red is tired of overworking, Yellow and Orange are not talking to each other as both wants to be the color of the Sun, White crayon feels empty etc。 Among all the crayons only Green crayon is the happy one。 So, to find the solution to this problem Duncan draw a multicolored drawing and use all the colors。 It was his best cr This is a funny and interesting story about a little boy Duncan and his Crayon Box。 One day when he take out his crayons he found stack of complaint letters from crayons like Red is tired of overworking, Yellow and Orange are not talking to each other as both wants to be the color of the Sun, White crayon feels empty etc。 Among all the crayons only Green crayon is the happy one。 So, to find the solution to this problem Duncan draw a multicolored drawing and use all the colors。 It was his best creative work and all crayons are also happy now。 。。。more

The book talked about our very favourite crayons, and how they have been shown as living beings with real feelings。 It definitely seems to be a part of series, with many more books on crayons, which I would love to read and recommend to my friends too。 Drew Daywalt gave life to all the my favourite colours。 They were so relatable。 But my favourite crayons were Blue and Green。 Blue Crayon, despite being all short and stubby, was still happy about colouring the vast oceans, seas, clouds and raindr The book talked about our very favourite crayons, and how they have been shown as living beings with real feelings。 It definitely seems to be a part of series, with many more books on crayons, which I would love to read and recommend to my friends too。 Drew Daywalt gave life to all the my favourite colours。 They were so relatable。 But my favourite crayons were Blue and Green。 Blue Crayon, despite being all short and stubby, was still happy about colouring the vast oceans, seas, clouds and raindrops。 on the other hand, green was all happy, all satisfied with no complaints- giving a positive life attitude。 This book was an amazing read。 It was hilarious and creative to see how they all complained to Duncan。 I wonder if my crayons would write the same to me, if given a chance。 The illustrations by Oliver Jeffers is an inspiration to me to keep drawing and colouring。 But u learnt a lot from this book- pink is not only a girl's colour, we must not to waste crayons and use them wisely and all colours are important。 But the most important thing which I learnt was from Duncan's last drawing, which says that it doesn't matter if we colour the sky yellow, the grass blue or the whale orange。 What matters is that we can and MUST use all colours, and imagination and creativity must be allowed to run free。 。。。more

Giving a voice to a crayon to talk about its feelings , makes one wonder if a child could do the same and not be afraid to share his feelings …。 Loved the idea and the picture is so lively 。 Also it is very a hilarious book to read 💚

The Day the Crayons Quit is a great book in that my children both loved it and I've had to read it probably a thousand times。 My son is still not very considerate about his crayons and tends to literally destroy them (He's 3), but it engages him and overall that's what's most important。 The Day the Crayons Quit is a great book in that my children both loved it and I've had to read it probably a thousand times。 My son is still not very considerate about his crayons and tends to literally destroy them (He's 3), but it engages him and overall that's what's most important。 。。。more

The Day the Crayons Quit is by author Drew Daywalt。 I like the part of the pink crayon because it is my favourite colour。 I found that the pink crayon was so angry that it did not call Duncan his friend。 I like the part of the blue crayon because it was really funny。 I like the picture that Duncan made because it was really pretty。 I love the part when the yellow and orange crayon were fighting because they were really funny when they were fighting。 I like beige crayon because it could only colo The Day the Crayons Quit is by author Drew Daywalt。 I like the part of the pink crayon because it is my favourite colour。 I found that the pink crayon was so angry that it did not call Duncan his friend。 I like the part of the blue crayon because it was really funny。 I like the picture that Duncan made because it was really pretty。 I love the part when the yellow and orange crayon were fighting because they were really funny when they were fighting。 I like beige crayon because it could only colour wheat。 。。。more
